My Story Began In Faith God's Way

What is A Follower of Christ,” …great question!  Jesus appeared in the 1st century.  The Follower of Christ term references very specifically of those who actively seek to live according to the teachings and example of Jesus Christ.  It is a much more personal, devotional term.  It implies direct commitment to Jesus’ teachings, examples, lifestyle and full reconciliation ministry and gaining a friend in Jesus.

Followers also are indoctrinated into the Trinity and are adopted into, joining the family of God spiritually living in the body of Christ each continuing Fathers will enduring until the end.  Followers keep their love and faith for The Lord, Thy God at the forefront till the end in accordance with Jesus’ teachings.

Being "indoctrinated into the Trinity" typically refers to the process of being taught about and accepting the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, which is the belief in one God existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.

The term "indoctrination" implies a thorough teaching of the doctrine. When someone says they were "indoctrinated into the Trinity," they usually mean that they were taught about the Trinity concept and they have accepted the concept of the Trinity as a central aspect of their Christian faith and in a way that emphasizes this strongly.

This, followers of Christ will keep all the while being equipped, guided, comforted and taught by the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit delivers the followers any of their spiritual gifts and/or ministry gifts of office.

A follower’s lifestyle highlights living out one’s life in a relationship with Jesus; rather than adherence to a religious system.

Emphasis is on continuing with the directions Jesus gave in faith and love.  This includes the great commission, active discipleship, living out love, forgiveness and the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount, applying and adhering to God’s word checking the scriptures and using Jesus’ teachings applying that to overcome and handling their daily life challenges.  Main scriptures that refer to followers or following are:

Matthew 4:19 (KJV) “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Mark 1:17 (KJV) “And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.”

1 Corinthians 4:15-17 NKJV “15 For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.  16 Therefore I urge you, imitate me.  17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.”

1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”

Ephesians 5:1 NKJV “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.”

Philippians 3:17 NKJV “Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.”

1 Thessalonians 1:6 NKJV “And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit.”

1 Thessalonians 2:14 NKJV “For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans.”

Hebrews 6:12 NKJV “that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

1 Peter 3:13 NKJV “And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?  Let me know if you'd like any further clarification!”

Jesus speaks to Peter and Andrew, calling them to follow Him and become "fishers of men,".   In those days fishing was a major industry around the sea of Galilee.

Casting nets into the dark waters men would pull the fish out into the light.  They were serious about this; not just fishing for fun only because catching fish meant survival.

Jesus most likely used this term ‘fishers of men’ metaphorically because they would be able to relate to this.  They would learn from Jesus the importance of spreading the gospel and the training to fish for souls bringing others out of the dark into the light!
